And here we have the first appearance of Shawn Tuckley himself, the author of Red Ring of Death, in his own comic. This is completely separate from the character of Shawn Tuckley, the protagonist in the fictional world of Red Ring of Death – please do not get these two confused, they are wholly distinct and unrelated (despite sharing many of the same beliefs and traits). Nevertheless, really neat to see Shawn “break the fourth wall” so to speak and enter his own strip!

You have to imagine this must have been a cathartic strip to make for Shawn, as well as his many fans. Pretentious “artists” and art “critics” never viewed gaming webcomics like Red Ring of Death as the true art that it clearly was. Heck, most art critics at the time viewed gaming webcomics as garbage in the mid-2000s, if you can believe that! It’s awesome to see Shawn himself putting them in their place!
